The WCMS Lady Pioneers dominated Franklin South with a 6-0 win Tuesday night.
With the win, WCMS moves to 3-0 on the year.
Jaden Smartt scored two goals and added one assist to lead WCMS to victory in McMinnville.
“We dominated possession from start to finish,” said WCMS coach Matt Walker.
When the whistle sounded to start the first half, Smartt dribbled through the defense to make it a 1-0 game early.
The Lady Pioneers didn’t let up as Katie Toney received a pass in the penalty box to score, 2-0. With the momentum, Smartt was able to make a pass to Bailey Bundy for a shot that went past the goalkeeper, 3-0.
To finish the first half, Natalie Stepien took a shot outside the penalty box that the Franklin South keeper couldn’t stop. At the half, the Lady Pioneers were up 4-0.
In the second half, coach Walker was able to put in different players. With their athleticism, Bundy was able to find Toney for the Lady Pioneers fifth goal.
To finish the game, Smartt was able to find the net once again with a shot the Franklin South goalkeeper let roll between her legs. With the 6-0 win, the Lady Pioneers are looking strong.
“We were able to work on some new set plays and came away injury free which is always good,” said Walker.
WCMS is back in action Aug. 29 against DeKalb County at WCHS soccer field starting at 5 p.m.
