WCHS places third in Spartan Shootout

Several local archery clubs aimed to skewer the competition last weekend, competing in the 2025 Spartan Shootout Tournament at White County High School.

Squads from Warren County High School, Dibrell Elementary, Eastside Elementary, Hickory Creek Elementary and Warren County Middle School, as well as a Warren County homeschool team, took part against 26 other schools ranging from elementary to high school.

WCHS competed Friday night, taking third place. Callie Roberts led her team’s efforts, scoring a 283 out of a possible 300 including 17 tens. Taryn Kegarise added a 275, and Avery Bolding scored a 271 while Maliya Phelps had a 270.

The homeschoolers took ninth place, with Jeremiah Jones leading the charge with a 283. Dillon Estle had a 267 and Eli Bain scored a 261.

Dibrell was sixth in the middle school division, and was led by Braylen Evans’ score of 265, a personal best. Mayleen Gaona had a 259.

Warren County Middle School took seventh, led by Shawn Durre’s 255, and Hickory Creek was seventh in its division, and was led by Brantley Council’s 257.

Danny Valencia had a 258 to lead Eastside, and Anna McGinness led the way for Centertown with a 237.
