HEAD COACH

COMMENTS

WCHS head coach J.W. Holt is glad to see his team score in the 340 range. Holt said, “I want us to beat a score of 350. If we get down in the lower 340s, we have a chance to be district runner-up, which will get us into the region tournament.”

Coach Holt was asked about the lack of girls on the team. Holt responded, “It goes in cycles. We had 4-5 girls a few years ago.”

PLAYER COMMENTS

Lauren Slatton, “It wasn’t my best golf, but I played good. I missed a lot of putts. It was really hot today and it was one of the hottest tournaments I have played in. Today was my birthday! I have shot under par on both courses (front and back 9), but my personal best here is a 72.”

Lauren Slatton was asked to comment on why she is the only girl on the high school golf team. Slatton said, “A lot of junior golfers don’t play anymore. It is not being advertised that much in McMinnville.”

Sawyer Seymour said, “I don’t really think the heat affected our play, but it was very hot today. You have to stay positive out there. We may do something for Lauren’s birthday.”
