Warren County golf looking to heat up

Temperatures were scorching outside on Thursday, but the Warren County High School golf team failed to heat up during a seven-team match in Tullahoma.

The Pioneers finished sixth in the tournament, while Lady Pioneer sophomore Lauren Slatton finished third individually in girls competition.

Warren County finished with a team score of 386, good for sixth place. Sawyer Seymour was the top Pioneer golfer with 84. Also contributing to the team score were Chase Newby with 88, Jaxon King with 97, and Chase Boley with 117.

In girls action, Slatton shot 76 to finish third.

The tournament was played at Lakewood Country Club, which is known as a challenging course.

Warren County will play its first home match of the season at McMinnville Country Club on Monday against Stone Memorial. Tee time is 1 p.m. On Tuesday, Warren County will travel to White County for head-to-head competition.
