With how his team finished in the fourth quarter in Gordonsville, coach Danny Fish may want to petition the TSSAA to drop all results for the first 24 minutes. Once Warren County turned it on in the final eight minutes, no team could stick with them in the DTC Christmas tournament.

Warren County won all three of its matchups in Gordonsville, including taking down Clinton 55-44 Monday night to win the holiday event. Devin Fish, who had a game-high 25 points in the finals, was named the DTC player of the game in two victories, while Keyton Reno was the player of the game in the opener when the Pioneers beat Clinton on a Deashawn Adams free throw with 0.3 seconds remaining.

A 53-48 win over Cumberland County Saturday set up a rematch with Clinton in the finals and the Dragons looked like they had the Pioneers' number for three quarters.

Warren County (7-3) trailed 39-31 going into the fourth quarter, but the Pioneers put on a clinic down the stretch defensively and hit just enough free throws to ice the game late.

"They just started playing really hard," said coach Danny Fish when asked about the difference late. "They cranked up the intensity defensively."

Controlling emotions helped as well. Clinton was assessed with an intentional foul and technical foul at separate moments in the second half, but the Pioneers never seemed to flinch.

The technical foul, which was paired with a reach foul on Isaiah Robledo, gave the Pioneers a chance to tie early in the fourth quarter.

Robledo split his pair of shots, as did Fish when he took the technical foul free throws, to tie the game 39-39 with six minutes left.

Corban Felton would push the Pioneers out in front for good seconds later. The junior got a wide-open look from deep and hit nothing but net, putting Warren County up 42-39.

Fish followed with a 3-pointer of his own from the top of the key on the next possession, capping a 14-0 run to start the fourth by the Pioneers.

Warren County faltered a little at the line in the fourth when the Dragons were forced to foul, but the Pioneers still connected on 16-of-26 from the charity stripe in the final quarter to ice the game.

Chance Whitlock was the only other Pioneer to reach double figures in the finals as the big junior center finished with 10 points. Whitlock kept the Pioneers from cratering in the second quarter, scoring all eight of their points in the period as he established his presence in the paint.

Reno finished with eight in the finals, followed by Robledo with five, Adams with four and Felton with three.
