There were two common themes during the three men’s Church League games played Tuesday night at Warren County Fairgrounds. The first involved most teams scrambling to find players following July 4 weekend and the second was every player scrambling for insect repellent after gnats overtook the fields.Despite the lack of players and abundance of bugs, Temple, Madison Street and Locust Street were able to pick up victories.Temple defeated Covenant 11-6 in Men’s A division action, while Madison Street earned a 17-7 win in “A” ball over The Believers. Locust Street won 22-4 over Rock Island in the only Men’s B division game.Temple and Covenant squared off for the second time this season Tuesday. Temple was looking for retribution from an early-season loss and got it behind stand-out performances from the Harrell brothers.Randal and Andy Harrell combined for six hits, six RBIs and four runs scored to help Temple move to .500 for the season at 4-4.
