The second game of the night Monday in girls 10-12 softball action featured the top team in the division, Team Evolution, against Foust Construction, which has endured a difficult season.Team Evolution built a five-run lead in the top of the first inning on its way to a 15-5 victory, improving its record on the season to 11-1.Savanna Duggin, Paige Sweeton, Brooklyn Cope, Jazlynn Ward, Sadie Duggin, Regin Grissom and Vada Lowry led Team Evolution with a hit apiece in the win.Cope also got it done on the mound, going two inning and allowing no runs.Foust Construction had only one hit in the game as it didn’t have an answer for Cope.Team Evolution got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when the first run scored thanks to a Foust Construction walk, 1-0. A three-run single by Ward and an RBI single by Grissom put Team Evolution in the driver’s seat, 5-0, heading into the bottom of the inning.Foust Construction got a runner to third base in the bottom of the inning but didn’t push the run across.Team Evolution scored five more runs in the top of the second, to build a double-digit lead courtesy of several walks by Foust Construction allowing all of the runs to cross the plate, 10-0.Foust Construction continued to get runners on base in the bottom of the inning but Cope settled down on the mound and sat down the side without any runners crossing the plate.The Team Evolution lead stretched to 15 in the top of the third inning thanks to timely hitting up and down the lineup and Foust Construction was down to its final bat.Foust Construction put up a fight in the bottom of the inning cutting the Team Evolution lead to 10 but it wasn’t enough as Team Evolution won easily via the run-rule, 15-5, giving it even more momentum heading into the tournament.
