Nothing was going to stand in the way of eight eighth-graders celebrating after their final regular season home game.

The WCMS Lady Pioneer volleyball team ended the regular season in style, defeating Tullahoma 25-13 and 25-23 to improve to 12-2 this season.

“I’m so proud of these girls. They played their last regular season game with intensity, good decisions and great plays,” said first-year coach Holly Morgan. “We played up to our level of volleyball. Every single one of the girls played hard. They all had great nights.”

It was the final home game for Lilly Cantrell, Krista Chisam, Aleah Davis, Emily Davis, Mia Henry, Jenna Newby, Kennedi Pegg and Sophie Woodlee, who have all played vital parts in Warren County vaulting near the top of the Central Tennessee Conference standings.

They were standouts again Thursday, doing all the little things necessary to get past Tullahoma in straight sets.

It was a reminder to Morgan how much she will have to replace next season.

“Our eighth graders will truly be missed next year. They have been great leaders, encouragers, supporters and players. They are leaving big shoes to fill,” said Morgan.

Though it was the last regular season game, the Lady Pioneers will get to play at their home gym at least one more time.

The CTC tournament will be held at WCMS this Tuesday and Thursday. The Lady Pioneers will play their first tournament match Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
