The Standard loves to celebrate the accomplishments of our talented teams and will be bringing back the “Kids of Summer” special sports tab in August. Submissions are being accepted from now until Friday, Aug. 4. The section is set to run Friday, Aug. 11.

The “Kids of Summer” section highlights the best teams in youth baseball and softball leagues all across the county as well as travel and all-star squads.

Any local team that has finished first or second in the regular season of tournament in a local league can submit a photo free of charge. Travel teams featuring local players can also submit photos of first- or second-place finishes this summer.

If a team finished outside the top two, but still wants to submit a photo, a charge of $20 will be applied.

Submissions will be accepted by e-mailing the team picture and information to sports@southernstandard.com. Submissions should include the following information: all players identified from left to right starting with the front row, the team name, the league the team played in and what place the team finished in the regular season and/or the tournament.

Submissions may also be brought to the Standard office during normal business hours. All physical copy submissions may be picked up after the section runs. Photo submissions brought to the Standard will be held on file for one month.

Any team picture that has already appeared in the Standard will need to be resubmitted – with full names – to be featured in the “Kids of Summer” tab.
