His hit song, “The Streak,” would be very fitting.The Lady Broncos extended their Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference winning streak to 14 games Tuesday night by extinguishing the Middle Tennessee Heat 47-46.Claire LeDuc and Rhiannon Hoover scored 14 points each to lead the Lady Broncos, including combining to score all of the team’s fourth-quarter points as Boyd survived a late charge by the Heat.The Lady Broncos led virtually the entire game, sparked by outscoring the Heat 16-7 in the first quarter behind six points from senior Marisa Hillis. Foul trouble befell Boyd in the second quarter as Hillis and starting senior point guard Ashley Newby had to take a seat on the bench with three fouls each.LeDuc and Hoover made sure the Lady Broncos kept the lead as they sank 3-pointers in the second quarter to put Boyd ahead 24-16 at halftime.The Heat didn’t start chipping into the Lady Bronco lead until the fourth quarter, when the home team made frequent trips to the charity stripe.Middle Tennessee sank seven free throws in the final period, including a pair by Kylie Ramsey with two minutes to go that gave the Heat their only lead.Hoover tied the game with a jumper, then LeDuc put the Lady Broncos up for good when she connected on a three-point play with a minute left.The Heat trimmed the lead to one with a late basket, but Boyd played keep away at the end to keep its streak alive.Hillis finished with 10 points against the Heat as the Lady Broncos got a big scoring game from a senior for the second straight game.Boyd was coming into Tuesday’s game after a big 51-31 victory over McClain Christian last Friday at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium.Newby scored a game-high 17 points as Boyd finished remained undefeated at home this season.
