In girls 9-11 year old softball action Monday night at Hoover-Millraney Field, the Southern Girls were looking for their first win of the season as they faced Foust Construction.Southern Girls ultimately won the game in three innings, defeating Foust Construction, 19-5.Southern Girls was led at the plate by Dallis Melton, who also had an impressive performance on the mound and had one hit at the plate. Kara Debord, Kora Forbes Abby Hodge and Andrea Jefferson added the other hits for Southern Girls.Despite the loss, Emily Cantrell and Rilley Stafford led Foust Construction at the plate, each getting a hit apiece. A 3-RBI triple by Zoie Conner and walked batters, scoring four runs in the top of first inning, helped Southern Girls get on the scoreboard first, 7-0.Melton sat down Foust Construction in order in the bottom of the inning and the Southern Girls added five more runs to their lead in the top of the second.
