Southern Girls oust Foust Construction

Dallis Melton brings the heat during action Monday night against Foust Construction. Melton was dominate on the mound in the Southern Girls 19-5 victory over Foust Construction.

In girls 9-11 year old softball action Monday night at Hoover-Millraney Field, the Southern Girls were looking for their first win of the season as they faced Foust Construction.
Southern Girls ultimately won the game in three innings, defeating Foust Construction, 19-5.
Southern Girls was led at the plate by Dallis Melton, who also had an impressive performance on the mound and had one hit at the plate. Kara Debord, Kora Forbes Abby Hodge and Andrea Jefferson added the other hits for Southern Girls.
Despite the loss, Emily Cantrell and Rilley Stafford led Foust Construction at the plate, each getting a hit apiece. A 3-RBI triple by Zoie Conner and walked batters, scoring four runs in the top of first inning, helped Southern Girls get on the scoreboard first, 7-0.
Melton sat down Foust Construction in order in the bottom of the inning and the Southern Girls added five more runs to their lead in the top of the second. Forbes hit a triple to the outfield for the Southern Girls to start the top of the inning.
That was followed by an RBI single by Jefferson, scoring Forbes and Southern Girls continued to add to their lead, 8-0. More walked batters by Foust Construction, scoring four runs, helped the lead grow to double-digits, 12-0, heading into the bottom of the inning.
After Foust Construction continued to struggle at the plate in the bottom of the inning, the Southern Girls added seven runs in the top of the third thanks to an RBI triple by Forbes, an RBI double by Jefferson and walked batters, scoring five more runs, 19-0.
Foust Construction finally got on the board in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs thanks to RBI singles from Cantrell and Stafford that were followed by several walked batters, scoring three runs, 19-5.
Foust Construction didn’t muster any more runs and the Southern Girls prevailed, 19-5, earning their first win of the season.
