Smokin' competitions

Adam Lee had the talk, and the walk, Friday night during the kan kam tournament at Smokin' in McMinnville.
"We're the best team here, I know that," said Lee moments before the competition began. "We're gonna win this thing."
Lee was on the money with that prediction as he and his brother Payden Lee cruised through the tournament undefeated to claim the title and a rack of ribs each. Afterwards, they made sure to stress their team name is Kan Jam Kings.
During a simultaneous cornhole tournament, the high-powered duo of Dareck Brumley and Garrett Pack didn't lose a game in the double-elimination tournament to win the title. They each received a rack of ribs for their victory.
"There really were some good players out here and I was amazed at how close all the games were," said organizer Terry Beard. "They were both anybody's tournaments to win."
Seven teams competed in kan jam, while there were the maximum of 10 teams in the cornhole tournament. Among the people playing cornhole were a husband and wife team from Mississippi who were in town for the Smokin' in McMinnville BBQ competition. They heard about the cornhole tournament and decided to participate.
It was the second year for both tournaments with a kickball tournament on the schedule for Saturday.
"It was some great fun and some great competition," said Beard. "I think everyone enjoyed it."
