Lady Pioneer sophomore Lauren Slatton has her focus set on a second straight state tournament appearance.

The high school golf team competed in the district tournament Thursday at Bear Trace Golf Course in Crossville – a performance highlighted by Lady Pioneer Lauren Slatton, who won the girls district with a lights-out round. 

Chase Newby, Sawyer Seymour and Slatton all qualified to play in the region tournament this Monday. Newby shot 82, and Seymour scored 93 in the district tournament. 

Other scores from the WCHS boys team at the district tournament were Jax King 95, Lincoln Sain 110, and Chase Boley 125.

Lauren Slatton shot 75, making her the top girl scorer in the district. She shot an impressive 35 on the back nine. 

Slatton said, “It felt great! I am going to go in this with all I’ve got!” 

Sawyer Seymour was excited to advance to the region and said, “Me and Chase are ready to play.”

The Warren County golfers will be at the Country Hills in Hendersonville on Monday for the region tournament. The Southern Standard intends to post live updates from the region tournament on social media.
