Slow starts and strong finishes are becoming a trend for the Lady Broncos. Boyd was pushed early in Monday's road game at Zion Christian, but answered with a dominant second half to down the Eagles 73-33.
Sophomore Katie Bechtel finished with a new career-high 22 points and fellow sophomore Brooke Kesey had 20 points and 13 boards as Boyd overcame an early seven-point deficit to win its fifth TSIAA battle.
"We're getting everybody's best shot early, but we've been able to weather it and continue to play our game," said coach Tim Page. "Our conference is improving rapidly. I think we are too. This group gets better every time it takes the court."
Bechtel and Kesey have formed a lethal inside-out combo as the pair combine to average over 35 points a game. They were above their marks against the Eagles with Bechtel hitting three times from deep and Kesey owning the paint.
Senior Kelly Bush chipped in six points and a team-high 15 rebounds. Charleigh Gannon and Macie Bush also scored six points each. Cydney Jane Perry finished with five points and five assists in another stroing outing, Channing Gannon and Britain Ralph each had four points and Zoe Oliver grabbed four boards while also adding two steals and two assists.
