Layton Sweeten-Kirby and the McMinnville Special Games team will be back in action starting Feb. 3. All eight games will be played at 1707 Yager Road (Old Northside School).

One of the longest winning streaks in Warren County basketball history will be put to the test starting next month. The McMinnville Special Games basketball team, undefeated over the last five years, have eight more teams looking to put their best foot forward over the next two months.

The Special Games team, which has been able to grow to include over 40 players last season, will face squads from the McMinnville Fire Department, McMinnville Police Department, Warren County EMS, Boyd Christian basketball, Warren County Sheriff Department, the WCHS girls and boys basketball team and finish off March 16 with a matchup against the parents and coaches of the best team in town.

Games will be played every Saturday morning starting Feb. 3 and running until March 16. Each game will start at 10 a.m. Admission is free, though donations are welcomed.

Teams have been lining up to take on the Special Games squad for years, but nobody has been able to stay on the court with them yet. They won all their games by 40-plus points last year, showing off an excellent blend of speed, skill and brilliant team basketball.

Fans are encouraged to come to 1707 Yager Road (Old Northside School) to see all the action this season.
