It’s been a meet four years in the making, but coach Amy Baird will finally be able to showcase her Warren County High School cross country team at home this season.A 5K event at WCHS Thursday, Sept. 12 is the highlight of a nine-race schedule for the boys and girls cross country teams, both of which coach Baird believes will be successful this season. After restarting the program four years ago, coach Baird has steadily been building the number of runners competing. This season, coach Baird goes into the season with enough runners to field two teams and plenty of experience as well.“We have enough for a varsity and junior varsity team this year,” said Baird. “There’s lots of people back from last year and some really good young runners coming up as well.”All the runners will get to experience running at home for the first time this season in a meet that has coach Baird very excited.
