Prater’s BBQ needed a win on the final night of the boys 7-8 machine-pitch league season to secure the top spot in this week’s upcoming tournament, but Southern Standard wasn’t going to give up easily.Prater’s BBQ scored five runs in the top of the fourth, turning a two-run game into an insurmountable seven-run lead as the team claimed the league championship with a 15-8 victory.Prater’s BBQ entered the fourth clinging to a 10-8 lead, but the bats came alive in the final inning.Matthew Young, Charlie Moore, Curtlan George, Sean Cope, Trent Mills and Jonathan Greene each had singles that helped account for five runs to put Prater’s BBQ ahead for good.Southern Standard went quietly in the bottom of the inning, sending only four batters to the plate as the team was nearly retired in order to end the game.Moore and George each had three hits to help Prater’s BBQ finish the season with a 7-1 record. Young, Cope, Mills and Greene had two hits apiece. Layne Roberts, Carter Templeton, J.J. Jacobs, Andy Thomson and Joey Huff had one hit each.Trad Grizzle led Southern Standard with three hits.
