The Pioneers began practice for the week scouting Lebanon’s offensive and defensive formations on the practice field.

Lebanon (8-1) is ranked No. 9 in the AP Prep Poll for 6A high school football teams. The Blue Devils are also No. 1 in the Pioneers region. Warren County is projected to be a fourth seed in the region playoffs next week.

Friday night will be Senior Night and rain is in the forecast. Some teams across the state have started moving games to Thursday night to avoid the rain. Ten seniors will be playing their last Pioneer football game at Nunley Stadium.

The Pioneers are trying to rebound from a frustrating loss to Franklin County. Several younger players are projected to be in the mix for playing time Friday night.

Zach Luck has a good chance to start on the offensive line this week. Collin Panter will be seeing more playing time at center. Darius Rippy will be starting on the line, and Aiden Miller has moved into the rotation on the offensive line.

The skill positions on offense appear to be the same. Nate Elrod at quarterback, Braylon Grayson will be at tailback and wingback, and Keldrick Cox, Jaythan Pleasant, and Drathan Dixon will all probably share playing time at wingback.

The next two games for the Pioneers will be time for seniors to play their last games, and younger players will jockey for leadership roles. The leaders for next year’s team needs to start evolving.

Good luck to Dayton Jernigan on his ACL surgery this week.
