It ultimately all came down to the top of the seventh inning for Warren County baseball Thursday night.
Hosting Moore County for senior night, three late runs broke a scoreless tie and cost the Pioneers on the way to a 3-0 loss.
Scoreless through the first six innings, Warren County got the top of the seventh started with a strikeout for pitcher Evan Snapp. Moore County followed this up with a single and two walks to quickly load the bases, then proceeded to bring in a pair of runs on the following at bat. Not long after, a Warren County error allowed Moore County to add a third run before the top of the inning came to a close.
Two strikeouts and a dropped third strike in the bottom of the inning ended the game shortly after.
The result was Warren County’s second shutout defeat of the week, following Tuesday’s 19-0 road district loss to Lincoln County on Tuesday. Wednesday’s home rematch against Lincoln County was postponed due to thunderstorms in the area.
The Pioneers had two hits over the course of the game, with one each for Tyler Adams and Jerren Harris.
On the mound, Snapp pitched all seven innings and finished with six strikeouts, five hits, three runs and three walks.
