The first win is always the hardest, but Donnie Harris made it look pretty easy Tuesday night. In his first game as head coach of the Warren County Middle School football team, Harris saw the Pioneers down the Sequatchie County Indians 25-12.Turnovers proved to be the key as the Pioneers forced five turnovers to set up two touchdowns, including Isaiah Grayson returning a fumble 43 yards for the team’s final score. The Pioneers also got two fumble recoveries by Isaiah Rutledge, an interception by Peppi Miller and Zane Maxwell stuffing a fourth-and-goal try by the Indians as he dislodged the ball from the running back.Sequatchie County, which beat the Pioneers 14-0 in last year’s season opener at Nunley Stadium, tried some trickery to begin the game. The Indians tried an onside kick, one Blaine Blankenship dove on to save the possession for the Pioneers. It proved to be a big momentum boost as Warren County launched a seven-play drive that Trayton Rackley capped by plowing into the endzone for the game’s first score.
