For the first time since 2010, the Warren County High School boys tennis team won’t enter the season as the defending District 6-AAA champions. The Pioneers saw their streak of three straight championships snapped by Cookeville last year, leaving coach David Dunlap to try and retool his team entering this year. Though the challenges of a new-look district – which now features Stone Memorial and Rhea County – and replacing regional qualifier Bryce Caten will be difficult, coach Dunlap believes his returning players have a chance to be competitive this year.“I think we can challenge in the district this year,” said Dunlap. “Our players have improved and gotten a year older and more experienced.
