Ending a 14-year streak of no regional tournament berths wasn’t what people expected of the Warren County High School baseball team. Winning 14 games didn’t even seem realistic for a group that totaled 17 wins the past three seasons. The Pioneers have made it a point to prove people wrong this season though. With 20 wins, the last coming Tuesday when Warren County clinched a regional-tournament berth with a 12-5 win over Coffee County, the Pioneers now await a long bus trip to Ooltewah tomorrow to take on the District 5-AAA champion Owls.Coach Adam Childs, who in his first year has transformed Warren County into an excellent small-ball team which thrives on defense and pitching, has already seen his team accomplish many of the goals the team set before the season.
