Pioneers fall to Franklin County

Warren County fell to Franklin County once again on Friday with almost the same score as their last game against the Rebels, 55-47.

Nate Elrod led the Pioneers in scoring with 14 and stayed open under the basket saying, “My teammates got me open and I kept hitting the easy shots.'

Though a good night for Elrod, Warren County couldn’t pull out another district win, falling to 1-5 in district and 8-12 overall.

The Pioneers were down 11-8 after one quarter. In the second quarter, Warren County fell behind by 9.

Rebels Debron Russell and Taylor Stovall were on a roll with 2-pointers ending the first half 25-15.

Elrod continued leading the Pioneers in the third quarter by dominating in the post. Sawyer Seymour put up a 3 only to be followed by a 3 from Kai Baker at the buzzer for Franklin County.

The fourth quarter proved to be the best quarter for Warren County as the Pioneers outscored the Rebels 19-16. Elrod, Keldrick Cox and Eli Kuykendall can take credit for this hustle with all making 2-point baskets and Cox with a 3.

Freshman Aaron Templeton got thrown in the final quarter where he shot a 3 himself, keeping the Pioneers in the game. Templeton proved to have the ability to keep up with the quick Franklin County point guard, not letting him out of reach.

“My coaches and teammates had confidence in me,” Templeton said. “I just played my game.”

With the win, Franklin County remains atop the district standings at 4-1 and 13-8 overall.
