It took until the closing seconds to seal the deal, but in the end the Pioneers came away with an undefeated finish and their second straight state championship at the Tennessee Special Olympics basketball tournament Saturday.

Marlon Gray scored with four seconds to play to give Warren County the lead for good in a tooth-and-nail 27-26 contest over Dickson County’s Heritage High, capping a 3-0 day which featured a 25-20 win over HMS Unified, as well as a 10-6 victory over the Uknighted Knights.

“It was nerve-racking, but it was a lot of fun,” said Pioneer coach Rico King, whose team has now captured back-to-back state titles in the Unified division.
