It may not have been senior night, but Christian Gonzalez made sure his final game at Patrick Ramsey Field was a memorable one.Gonzalez hit a solo home run and had two big defensive plays to help the Warren County High School baseball team defeat the visiting Lebanon Blue Devils 3-2.Two nights after being honored as one of four seniors on the Pioneer baseball team, Gonzalez played perhaps his best game since putting on the uniform four years ago.Gonzalez’s solo home run in the second inning gave Warren County a 2-1 lead and his double play in the sixth inning shut the door on a comeback attempt by Lebanon late.Sophomore David Lee pitched 5-1/3 solid innings, but found himself in trouble in the bottom of the sixth while trying to protect a 3-1 lead. Coach Joey Haston decided to make a pitching change, bringing in Spencer Pryor with a runner on third and one out. Pryor got a shallow pop fly into right field, which Gonzalez easily camped under.Instead of listening to his third-base coach, the Lebanon runner decided to try to make a break for home.
