In boys 9-11 baseball action at Sam Martin Field on Tuesday night, Morrison Industries faced Platinum Roofing.
Morrison Industries ultimately squeaked by with a 5-4 victory in a hard-fought game that was won in dramatic fashion.
Justus Majors led the way at the plate for Morrison Industries, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Brayan Holgain, Nathan Elrod, Devan Grayson and Gabriel Bowers added a hit apiece.
Elrod also earned the win on the mound, going four innings, striking out seven batters, while only allowing four runs on a hit.
In the loss, Platinum Roofing was led at the plate by Talan Mullican who had the team’s lone hit. Mullican also suffered the loss on the mound, going one inning, allowing a run.
Platinum Roofing got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single by Mullican, 1-0. Mullican later scored in the inning and Platinum Roofing had the two-run advantage, heading into the bottom of the inning, 2-0.
Morrison Industries tied things up in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Elrod and a fielder’s choice by Platinum Roofing, scoring a run, 2-2, after one.
Platinum Roofing broke the tie in the top of the second, scoring a run on a walk, 3-2.
Morrison Industries failed to score in the bottom of the inning and after Platinum Roofing failed to add to its lead in the top of the third, Morrison Industries tied the game yet again.
An RBI double by Grayson made it a tie game, 3-3 as it continued to be a back-and-forth game, going into the final inning of play.
Platinum Roofing took the lead thanks to Alex Tallent scoring on a passed ball, 4-3.
Morrison Industries was in business as it led the bottom of the inning off with a walk and a double by Bowers. Ethan Basham scored on an RBI single by Holgain, tying the game up for the third time with the winning run on third base.
Majors came up a batter later and delivered in a big way, hitting the game-winning RBI single, scoring Bowers and Morrison Industries won the game in walk-off fashion, 5-4.
