The Morrison Lady Eagles cemented their spot in the championship of the 7-8 County Basketball Tournament by defeating No. 4 seed Dibrell 49-23 on Tuesday in the semifinals.

Jayla Garibaldi took no prisoners at Charlie Dalton Gym, leading Morrison with 22 points against the Lady Wildcats. Chloe Wanamaker also put in a great effort with 15 points for the Lady Eagles.

For Dibrell, Maddox Adams matched Wanamaker with 15 points.

Garibaldi and Wanamaker were consistent in receiving long passes after turnovers to make layups thanks to the Lady Eagles defense.

This kept Morrison rolling in the first half, but Dibrell found a stride in the third quarter with Adams weaving around Morrison for baskets under the goal.

The Lady Eagles have consistently been strong on defense this season which has led to a pattern of their guards making layup after layup against no opposing defense. This defense and swift handling of a basketball has led them to be undefeated all season and paved their way to the championship.

The girls championship will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday at WCHS where the Morrison Lady Eagles will face No. 2 seed Centertown.

Dibrell will play against Eastside for third place.
