Moose Lodge earns victory

On Friday night in boys 6-8 baseball action, Moose Lodge went up against Edward Jones. The game turned out to be a slugfest but in the end Moose Lodge prevailed, 12-8, behind Jaxson Grissom’s 4-for-4 night, which included three singles, a triple and two RBIs.
Andrew Key also contributed in the hitting column with three hits and three RBIs, while Kai Bennett added two and Jack Rhoton, Lake Sadlon and Tyler Woodlee added a hit apiece.
Despite the loss, Jordan Price and Hayden Fults led the charge for Edward Jones at the plate. Fults blasted a three-run homer and Price ended up with two triples.
Moose Lodge got on the board quickly in the top of the first inning when Key hit an RBI single to the outfield, 1-0. Later in the inning, Key scored on another RBI single by Sadlon, to put Moose Lodge up by two, 2-0, heading into the bottom of the inning.
Edward Jones answered back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Price RBI triple and a Barrett McGinness RBI single, to tie things up heading into the second, 2-2.
Moose Lodge exploded for six runs in the top of the second to build a comfortable lead. A 2-RBI triple by Grissom put Moose Lodge out front again, 4-2. Grissom scored a batter later when Key hit him home on an RBI single, 5-2. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Woodlee came up and hit a 3-RBI single to the outfield to stretch the lead to six, 8-2.
Edward Jones responded in the bottom of the inning with a three-run homerun by Fults to cut into the Moose Lodge lead, 8-5, after two.
A Grissom 2-RBI single added to the Moose Lodge lead in the top of the third and was followed in the bottom of the inning with three more runs scored by Edward Jones to keep it a close game, 10-8.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning as both team headed into the fifth with the score remaining the same.
Moose Lodge widened its lead to four in the top half of the fifth thanks to a 2-RBI single by Woodlee, 12-8, and Edward Jones was needing an answer for its final at-bat.
Edward Jones went down in order in the bottom of the inning and Moose Lodge came away with the victory in a closely contested game, 12-8.
