Anthony Lippe is taking his first steps as the new coach of the Warren County High School girls basketball team. It will all start with picking his first squad.
Lippe announced recently the dates for his tryouts, which will include a separate time for a freshman team, something the program hasn’t had in several years.
“We are very excited about bringing back a freshman program,” said Lippe. “I feel like it’s extremely important to give kids an opportunity to not only grow as a player, but also prove that they have what it takes to be a high school basketball player.
“Our coaching staff is all on the same page about our freshman team being a vital part to building a program.”
The freshman tryout, which is open to any upcoming freshmen for the 2019-20 school year, will be held Thursday, May 23 from 2-4 p.m. at Warren County High School.
A varsity tryout will be Monday, May 20 from 3-4:30 p.m.
“We want all high school girls to try out. We are excited to take a hard look at the talent that is out there,’ said Lippe. “There are talented young ladies walking our halls and we would love for them to come play basketball.
“I want to encourage everyone to come and try out to be a part of something we feel will bring a lot of positive to our school and community.”
