Kamryn Knowlin brings the ball into the frontcourt and looks through the aggressive Lady Raider defense to make a pass to her teammate late in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Red Raiders stormed the Warren County Middle School gym Monday night and they used their speed coupled with relentless pressure on the ball to outrun and outscore the Lady Pioneers. Coffee County defeated WCMS by a final score of 47-27.
It was all Julia Duncan of Coffee County and she led all scorers with a game-high 25 points. Duncan got it done from everywhere. Her vast array of shots included a pair of deep 3’s and she shot 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Coffee County was quicker to the ball right from the start and played a very aggressive full-court pressure defense. WCMS shots were limited and good looks at the basket were few and far between. Alora Stuart got the ball in close early in the game and scored her first two points.
Anniston McBride also contributed her first two points of the game over the Lady Red Raider defense. After a four-point first quarter, the Lady Pioneers knew they were in for a long game.
The Lady Red Raiders pushed the tempo and executed their game plan. Duncan knocked down a pair of early free throws. Keelie Hillis was also perfect from the free-throw line. The WCMS defense didn’t give up much in scoring on the inside.
Bella Vinson was left alone behind the arch and she made the Lady Pioneer defense pay for it when she hit a 3-point shot. After the first quarter was completed, Coffee County led 13-4.
The Lady Red Raider defense tightened up its pressure in the second. The WCMS offense just could not find its way through the pressure defense. There was very little time to set up and run the offense before the half. McBride scored again for the Lady Pioneers and that was all the offense for WCMS in the first half.
Coffee County continued to pour on the pressure and collected several turnovers. Duncan added points for Coffee County from the floor. She knocked down a pair of jumpers and connected on a 3-point shot.
At the half, it was all Coffee County and the Lady Pioneers trailed 24-6.
WCMS posted its best quarter after the half when the Lady Pioneers doubled their first-half total in the third. Savannah Cox squared up to the basket and fired from behind the 3-point line. She hit her target twice for her first six points.
Nautica Brown and Samantha Jennings slipped past the Coffee County defense and scored inside. WCMS posted 12 points in the third but needed stops on defense.
The Lady Red Raiders continued to pile on the points even though the Lady Pioneers found ways to score. Duncan was relentless and she continued to fire from anywhere on the floor if left open. She did it inside off the turnovers and outside behind the 3-point line. WCMS did not have an answer for Duncan. Garretson connected on a pair of baskets and after three complete, WCMS trailed 38-18.
The Lady Pioneers refused to roll over and they traded blows throughout the final period. Cox hit from beyond the arch again for the third time. All nine of her points were 3-point shots with a hand in her face.
Beth Vaughn pulled up just outside the paint for her first basket of the game. Kinsley Lorance and Brown picked up a pair of baskets in the paint before the final buzzer.
Coffee County’s quick start put WCMS behind in the early going and it proved to be much harder to come back than the Lady Pioneers anticipated. Coffee County defeated WCMS, 47-27.
