All the predictions about the Lady Pioneers seem foolish right now.The Warren County High School girls team has started the season with five straight victories – three coming this Saturday when the Lady Pioneers traveled to Smithville to compete in the DeKalb County playday.Warren County defeated Trousdale County 46-43 in overtime, blew out the Chattanooga Patriots 62-18 and earned a forfeit against Gabriel Christian.Coach Erick Baird, who was shocked prior to the season after his team was predicted to finish last in District 6-AAA, likes the hot start and hopes it will continue as the competition level increases as the season goes along.“Starting off the season successfully is important to set the tone for the season. We had a difficult slate of early games and the overtime win against a tough Trousdale County team will help the coaches better understand the personnel in tight ball games,” said Baird. “Our second game gave us a chance to see the young players and assess them.
