Lady Pioneers stay undefeated
WCHS girls Saydee
Saydee Winfree has little opposition breaking the pressure defense Tuesday night in the 77-54 win over the Tullahoma Wildcats. Winfree scored seven of her 10-point total in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Pioneers are off and running, literally. The Warren County High School girls have jumped out to a 6-0 start after a convincing 77-54 victory over Tullahoma in a game played Tuesday night at Charlie Dalton Gym.
Powerful post Karagan Turner led the Lady Pioneers with a game-high 23 points. Elsa Eckenrod continued her hot play with 14.
The total lack of offense for the Lady Wildcats in the first quarter led to their quick demise. Strong defense, turnovers, and transition points were key for Warren County in the early going. The Lady Pioneers defense absolutely blanketed the Lady Wildcats all over the court.
Warren County would jump out to an early lead behind seven first-quarter points from Eckenrod. Tullahoma might have been too concerned with shots in the paint, so the ball was kicked out for two 3-pointers that would rock the Wildcat defense.
Attention turned to Eckenrod on the defensive side for Tullahoma, so that opened the door for other Lady Pioneers to fill the void. With 26 points, Turner had no problems answering the call. Turner would take the ball down deep in the paint scoring for the Lady Pioneers.
If the Wildcat defense did happen to cut off Turner, she kicked the ball out to outside scoring threat Brittany Myers, who can bury a jumper. Turner and Meyers combined for 13 in the second quarter.
The Lady Wildcats could not find answers in the first half as Warren County was up at the break, 34-14.
The third quarter brought out a different Lady Wildcat team which found its way through the tough Lady Pioneer defense, keeping Warren County guessing. Improved ball handling and sharing the point scoring roll and not depending on one player became the answer for the Tullahoma offense, finally winning a quarter by outscoring the Lady Pioneers 24-19.
The damage was clearly done in the first half by the Lady Pioneers as they cruised through the fourth with little opposition. Several key players fouled out down the stretch for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Pioneers will be making the trip to Smithville tonight for a game against DeKalb County. After that, the team travels to Cannon County on Monday and returns home Tuesday against Coffee County, which is Pink Out Night.
