In a low-scoring slugfest, WCMS had just enough offense to go on the road and capture a 5-6 grade basketball victory in Irving College on Tuesday night.
Kyra Perkins scored 10 points as WCMS stayed unbeaten with a 30-14 win over the Lady Tigers.
The victory keeps the WCMS girls unbeaten at 5-0. The Irving College girls drop to 2-3.
Mia Hobbs was the top scorer for Irving College with 10.
It was anybody’s game after a bruising first quarter, but WCMS began to gain separation in the second quarter. Irving College was unable to score a point in the second quarter, missing all five of its foul shots, as the Lady Pioneers built a 12-3 lead at the break.
From there, WCMS was able to stay comfortably in front thanks to a balanced scoring attack. Kenslee Grissom scored 8 points, Rosa Terrazas added 6, Samantha McCormick had 4, and Lydia White scored 2.
Other Irving College scorers were Brooklyn Wanamaker with 2 points, and McKenzie Hillis and Jessie Young with 1 point each.
