Lady Pioneer coach Erick Baird said he found out Tuesday morning senior guard Bree Smith would not be available for Tuesday night’s game in Sparta due to illness.Once the game began, Smith’s absence was glaring.Warren County was outmatched against the top team in the district as White County earned a 53-35 victory. With Smith on the bench, what had been a one-two scoring punch became mainly the Lauren Wilkinson show. Wilkinson scored the Lady Pioneers first 10 points and finished with a game-high 20, but a well-balanced White County attack prevailed.“They were doubling and tripling Lauren and she was still able to score,” said Baird. “With Bree out, we had some younger girls who were able to step up, but it wasn’t enough.”According to information provided by White County High School, the Warriorettes have now won 22 straight games against Warren County, and 28 of the last 29 matchups.
