A cart loaded with cupcakes was wheeled onto the court for Senior Night festivities after the Lady Pioneers finished their game against Cookeville on Friday night. The cupcakes looked far better than the way Warren County played during a lethargic 51-19 loss to the Lady Cavs at Charlie Dalton Gym.It was never competitive as Cookeville jumped out to a 23-1 lead midway through the second quarter and was never threatened. Warren County didn’t make its first field goal, a driving layup by point guard Camerie Martin, until 12 minutes had elapsed in the game. The loss is the Lady Pioneers sixth straight and drops the team to 13-17 overall and 1-7 in district. The Warren County girls will compete in the district tournament play-in game Thursday night in Sparta. With the win, Cookeville remains unbeaten in the district at 7-0 with a makeup game to play Monday night. The Lady Pioneers entered the game looking to build some momentum heading into the district tournament, but came out flat.
