The Covenant Academy Lady Lions fell to the Franklin Christian Lady Falcons on Tuesday 56-24.
Covenant had scoring from eight different players, but the Lady Lions didn’t have anyone score more than 5.
Covenant started rough with Franklin Christian’s Kayla Lee putting up 12 points in the first quarter. She was seemingly unstoppable. Lee would continue to run the game in the first half with steals and layups, scoring 11 points in the second quarter.
Franklin Christian had a huge lead going into the second half over Covenant in what looked like a runaway, 41-8.
The third quarter would prove to be more competitive for the Lady Lions as they outscored the Lady Falcons 13-8. Lassiter and Sadie Duggin both made a 3-pointer each to add to Covenant’s score.
Savanna Duggin, Jasmine Holland, and Abigail Netherton all added points from inside shots for the Lady Lions who were showing more fight in the second half. Netherton and Leah Mara were essential in keeping the ball moving for Covenant.
However, Covenant wasn’t able to fully catch up to Franklin Christian. Their biggest obstacle was Lady Falcon star player Lee, who was overwhelming for the Lady Lions. Despite this adversary, the Lady Lions pulled through and finished strong.
