The Hickory Creek Lady Hawks marched through the elementary District 1 tournament in the same convincing fashion they marched through their undefeated regular season.

Thursday night at Bobby Ray, the Hickory Creek girls thumped the Lady Tigers from Irving College, 29-1.

After the game, Lady Hawk coach Shea Panter praised her team. Panter said, “I just told the girls that it is nice to win the championship when you play your best game of the season. They passed the ball well, and they didn’t really care who scored, as long as we scored. It was a good team win.”

Hickory Creek’s full-court press smothered Irving College. Once the press was called off, the Lady Tigers could not make their shots fall.

The hero of the game for Irving College was Zara Laxson who sank the first of two free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the Lady Tigers from being shut out.

Kaydence Wiser was very accurate from the perimeter and scored 13 points to lead Hickory Creek in scoring. Cortlyn Porter scored most of her 10 points on fast breaks and layups. Everyone on Hickory Creek’s team played in the game.

Irving College had two girls named to the all-tournament team, Baelee Crouch and Ali Young. Hickory Creek had three girls named to the all-tournament team, Cortlyn Porter, Brynlee Chisam, and Kaydence Wiser.
