Lady Eagles win in OT

The Boyd Lady Broncos were just nine seconds away from picking up their first victory, but the Morrison Lady Eagles and Becca Beaty had other plans.Beaty hit a jumper from the top of the key with 9.3 seconds to go to send the game into overtime and hit the go-ahead shot in extra time to give Morrison a 19-18 victory in OT over the Lady Broncos at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium.Boyd (0-5) battled back from a 10-6 deficit at the end of the third to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Saylor Hodges tied the game at 11 with a free throw with two minutes to go, then Kayla Taylor added a jumper to give Boyd its first lead at 13-11.The Lady Broncos looked poised to pick up the victory when Morrison had to scramble to get a shot off late, but a loose ball went straight to Beaty at the free-throw line and she buried the jumper to send the game into overtime.In overtime, Beaty got Morrison started with a layup, then Addyson Crouch added a jumper later to make it a four-point game.Brit Brown cut the lead in half with a jumper of her own. Brown then made it a one-point game with a free throw, but it proved to be the last point as Boyd couldn’t get the go-ahead score late.Harley Boyd led Morrison to its second win by scoring eight points as the team improved to 2-3.
