It's money in the bank as First National wins

If First National was banking on its strong season to continue, that wish came true Thursday night in the Morrison Coach Pitch League.
First National Bank didn't run out of gas in defeating Morrison Marathon, 20-8.
First National established a commanding lead in the opening inning as the first 10 batters scored before the team made its first out. Morrison Marathon tried to refuel, but didn't have enough horsepower to come from behind.
Finishing as the top scorers for First National were Xander McCormick and Gracie Butler with three runs each. Emma Cooper, Alex Perez, Kira Smith, Kate Gribble and Aiden Campbell scored two runs each.
Leading the way for Morrison Marathon was Bryant Ralph with two runs scored. Kenlee Ferrell had four hits and scored once.
The Morrison tournaments are set to begin July 11. In addition to first and second-place trophies that are on the line, each team is allowed to award one medallion at the end of the year to the player of its choice.
There is no set criteria to determine who gets the medallion. It can be awarded to the player with the best sportsmanship, the player who never missed a practice, the player who showed the most improvement, or whatever characteristic the coaches deem most appropriate.
Teams can also opt to donate the medallion to their sponsor.
