Monday’s matchup between the Eastside Bulldogs and Irving College Tigers brought together the two boys teams tied atop the 7-8 grade standings, along with matching up the two top scorers in the league.Bulldog Lucas Patrick came in averaging 18 points per game, just a few more than Tiger Chance Hobbs’ 15 points per game average. In the end though, Tiger guard Freddie Trevino made sure everybody knew his name too.Trevino scored 20 points and led a tenacious Tiger defense as Irving College went on the road and beat Eastside 60-41.It was the second victory over Eastside for the Tigers this season, along with the team’s third regular-season victory. Irving College previously defeated the Bulldogs in the finals of the Morrison preseason tournament.The Bulldogs, who had started the season with convincing wins over Boyd and Dibrell, wanted revenge Monday night.
