Before becoming the next stars of the Eastside Bulldogs, Dibrell Wildcats or Warren County Pioneers, local children are getting a chance to shine in the Little Pioneer League held every Saturday at Charlie Dalton Gym.The league, which has six boys teams and four girls teams with children ages 5-7, continued play Saturday with battles of top teams headlining the action.Saturday’s slate of six games started with the undefeated Small Shots boys team taking on Southern Standard.While four of the league’s top five scorers were on the court, it was Braylon Grayson who led Small Shots to its sixth straight victory.Grayson scored 12 points as Small Shots defeated Southern Standard 28-11. Grayson came into the game averaging four points while teammates Nathan Elrod and Treyton Terry each rank in the league’s top five. Elrod leads the Little Pioneer League with 67 points in six games.Matthew Key scored six points for Southern Standard as the team fell to 3-3 overall.Sullen’s Shooters broke a five-game losing streak in the following game, earning its first win by defeating River Park Hospital 10-8.Brett Cantrell scored eight points for Sullen’s Shooters, including sinking the game-winning shot.
