HADLEY, Mass. – Madison Hollis dominated the circle in Tennessee for years. Nothing has changed now that she’s throwing heat in Maine.

Hollis, a standout freshman for Bates College, won NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors Monday from the New England Small College Athletic Conference, after propelling the Bobcats to a 3-1 week, including a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan and a victory over rival Bowdoin.

Hollis simply did it all for Bates last week. She won both her starts in the circle, tossing five innings of one-run ball, striking out five in a 13-1 mercy rule win over Bowdoin on Friday. Then she followed that up with a complete game shutout of Wesleyan on Saturday, striking out a season-high eight in seven innings of scoreless ball.

She hit safely in all four games as well, going 2-2 with two runs scored in the win over Bowdoin and 4-6 with a run scored and four RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan.

Hollis is the first Bates softball player to earn NESCAC Pitcher of the Week honors since Kirsten Pelletier on April 8, 2019.

For the year, Hollis is 3-2 in the circle with a 3.59 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. She is also hitting .351 with seven RBIs as she is making starts at first base when she isn’t pitching for the Bobcats.
