Coach Joey Haston embarked on his second season as head coach of the Warren County High School baseball team by holding tryouts last Friday. With only four seniors to replace and a number of junior varsity players ready to make the leap, coach Haston’s lineup didn’t seem to change much.Twelve players return to the Pioneers with starting experience at the varsity level, including two all-district players and four starting pitchers.Soon-to-be senior Logan Walker headlines an outfield which has three players who split starts last year. Walker, who was named second-team All-District 6-AAA last week, earned most of his starts in center field, while fellow upcoming seniors Collin Hutchins and Brett Mullican split time in left field. With Christian Gonzalez departing in right field, coach Haston could find a spot for all three in next year’s outfield. Last year’s team captain Micah McColloch returns for his senior season and will headline a pitching staff with plenty of arms.
