The Warren County High School girls tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season Thursday, downing Shelbyville at home 4-3.
The victory, which came on the heels of Tuesday’s 8-1 win on the road at White County, featured three wins against two losses in singles action, as well as a 1-for-2 record in doubles play.
In singles, No. 1 seed Abby Graves fell 6-8, but London Caten won 8-6 at No. 2, Izzy Pitts won 8-4 at No. 3 and Ranna Takahashi won 8-3 at No. 5. Susanna Netherton came up short at No. 4 singles, losing 8-5.
The doubles tandem of Graves and Caten fell 8-3, but Pitts and Netherton won 8-5 to seal the victory.
The Pioneer boys were blanked by the Golden Eagles 7-0, and fell to 0-2 on the season after losing to White County 9-0 Tuesday.
