First National Bank took care of business against Cherokee and got some help from Rotary Club to narrow the gap at the top of the boys 13-15 Babe Ruth league standings.First National Bank beat Cherokee 10-2, then Rotary Club upset league leader Sun Drop 5-0 to tighten the standings.First National Bank improved to 5-2, just one win behind the 6-2 mark Sun Drop currently owns.Six strong innings from Bradley Stewart and timely hitting helped First National Bank make quick work of Cherokee.Stewart earned the victory as he allowed just five hits and two runs while striking out seven.First National Bank took an early lead when Jake Driver started the game with a single and proceeded to score on a wild pitch.Dustyn Kilgore, who reached on a single, also came around to score on an RBI single by Krojhn Calbert.Cherokee got one run back in the bottom of the first when Trey Cantrell scored on a sac fly by Dylan George, but the deficit quickly grew.Calbert added an RBI double in the third, then Logan Martin scored on a groundout in the fourth as First National Bank took a 4-1 lead.Tristian Shadix brought Cherokee within two with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth, but First National Bank scored the last six runs to win going away.RBI singles by Calbert and Austin Melton gave First National Bank two runs in the fifth, then the team totaled four runs in the sixth as Logan Martin hit a two-run single and Chandler Rockwell added a two-run double.Stewart finished off his complete-game victory by striking out the final Cherokee batter.Calbert led First National Bank with three hits. Kilgore, Rockwell and Glen Llewellyn had two hits each, while Driver, Stewart, Melton and Martin added one hit apiece.J.D. Keele took the loss for Cherokee, which fell to 1-7. Keele pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by Cantrell.
