Jessie Young scored seven points to propel the Irving College Lady Tigers into the finals with a 35-33 OT win over Centertwon.

The final stage is set in the 7-8 grade elementary league.


Four teams punched their tickets to the finals Tuesday and will battle Saturday night for the championship crown. In the boys bracket, Dibrell will put its 33-game winning streak on the line in the title tilt against Morrison. In the girls finale, unbeaten Morrison will take on tournament Cinderella Irving College.


The Lady Tigers are the only team to make the finals that wasn’t a top-two seed entering play Monday. Irving College earned its way to the finals with a 35-33 overtime victory over No. 2 Centertown Tuesday night.


Rosa Tarrazas and McKenzie Hillis provided for the final baskets in overtime as the Lady Tigers were able to top Centertown. Both hit from the field in a wild three minutes, with both exhausted squads looking for a way to prevail.


Irving College got a team-high 19 points from Mia Hobbs, who blew up for 11 points in the second quarter to help her team build a 19-16 halftime advantage. The teams were never separated by more than three points in the second half.


Jessie Young hit a big 3-pointer down the stretch for the Lady Tigers, only to see Madison Johnson match with two big baskets for Centertown in the fourth quarter.


Ultimately, the Lady Warriors couldn’t score in the final seconds to force a second overtime.


Young finished with seven points for the Lady Tigers, followed by Hillis with three and Tarraza, Wendy Garcia and Keley Rhea with two.

Madison Johnson led Centertown with 10 points, followed by Alyssa Mosley and Krista Chisam with nine points each, Addison Johnson with three and Liberty Simmons with two.


Irving College will face off with Morrison after the Lady Eagles beat Eastside 31-18 for their 13th straight victory.


Lakelyn Ross and Lilly Cantrell each scored 10 points to lead Morrison. Brienne Kelsey added seven and Jessica Alvarez scored four to help the Lady Eagles advance.


Eastside got seven points from Shelby Smartt, followed by Chloe Rogers and Kelly Bush with four points apiece and Bebe Brackley with three.


  In boys action, Dibrell dominated Eastside 49-24 and Morrison crushed Centertown 41-21 to set the stage for another battle between the bitter rivals.


Saturday's championship games are set to start at 7 p.m. at Charlie Dalton Gym.
