In a very close game, Eastside narrowly sneaked in a win against Dibrell in Thursday night’s 7-8 grade basketball showdown. It was a low-scoring defensive slugfest won by the Bulldogs, 16-14.
That outcome didn’t seem likely in the first quarter with Dibrell taking a quick lead over Eastside. Dibrell also fouled Eastside a number of times, giving the Bulldogs plenty of chances to score. Luckily for the Wildcats, Eastside only made one of its free throws.
Dibrell lost its lead in the second quarter when the Wildcats didn’t score a point, allowing the Bulldogs to get ahead by one point, 7-6, at the half.
The teams were aggressive in the third quarter, but neither was able to score a lot, mainly because of stout defense. Neither team was managing to make many of their shots.
The final quarter was very intense with both team hungry for the win. The coaches were on their feet for most of the quarter and getting loud.
Both teams only put up four points each in the last quarter leading to an Eastside victory, 16-14.
This was a low-scoring game for both teams, but it was an overall fun game to watch because the outcome was always in doubt. If Dibrell was able to make more of its shots or foul less, the Wildcats easily could’ve taken it.
