A slow start was too much for Covenant to overcome in Monday’s home matchup with FCA.

The Lions were held to just eight points in the first half, eventually falling 53-33 to the visiting Falcons.

Jackson Sauer, who scored a team-high eight points for Covenant, was the home team’s lone offense in the first half. Sauer scored six points before his team entered the locker rooms trailing 24-8.

Covenant began to heat up in the second half, getting two big triples from Ethan Hillis and six points from Elijah Smith in the third quarter. It didn’t help the Lions get back though, as FCA was able to extend its lead to 45-23 behind seven points from Jackson Bradshaw.

Bradshaw led FCA with 15 points, while Blue Wideman added 10 points.

Alex Stovall finished with five points for Covenant, while Terry Hines added four – all coming in the fourth quarter. Ian Lyles and Vansh Patel also got on the board late, finishing with two points and one point, respectively.
