With preseason practices underway, Covenant Academy’s high school volleyball team is setting up to kick off a new season.
The Lady Lions finished last year fifth in the conference, their best finish so far as they keep improving since volleyball started at Covenant in 2013.
“We didn’t have any seniors last year, so we got everyone back this season,” said head coach Chris Madewell. “We have four seniors and four juniors this year, the most experience we’ve ever had on the team. I am looking forward to a good season.”
The Lady Lions are set to play Aug. 3-5 in the Lancaster Christian Volleyball Jam in Smyrna. That event should be a good measuring stick.
Covenant Academy has been making strides building up its sports programs. The high school soccer team came in second place in the MTAC tournament this year and Covenant’s middle school Lions won their division this year.
Both boys and girls basketball teams exist at Covenant Academy and senior Hannah Griffin signed with Bryan College to play basketball in the fall.
Experience a plus for Lady Lions
