Eastside girls win big

Eastside Lady Bulldog Ansli Womack takes a turn at being point guard against Lady Bronco defender Brit Ralph. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Broncos, 46-10.

Eastside let the dogs out Thursday night with the girls and boys 7-8 grade teams defeating the Boyd Broncos at Eastside.

The Lady Broncos were simply outmatched against the intense defense and impressive scoring of the Lady Bulldogs as Eastside won, 46-10.

The first quarter was not pretty as Eastside scored 22 points and the Lady Broncos didn’t get on the board. Lady Bulldogs Macie Bush and Sarah-Kate Winfree were an unstoppable duo putting up 10 points each in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Boyd’s C.J. Perry scored the Lady Broncos' first goal with a layup. Though not a scorer, Eastside’s Zoi Radny became the team’s point guard for much of the game in place of Bush and Winfree.

By halftime, Eastside was still up 28-4, and the Lady Broncos were in trouble. Bush and Winfree alternated being on the floor for the third quarter, making it a little easier for Boyd, but not easy enough. Lady Broncos Perry and Raylee Vinson put up 2 points each.

The fourth quarter looked similar with Boyd’s Brit Ralph making the only basket for the Lady Broncos. Meanwhile, Winfree continued to play great defense and get many rebounds for Eastside.

EASTSIDE -- Macie Bush 22, Sarah-Kate Winfree 18, Kyaira Sharpe 6
